Previous footbridge was closed following a structural inspection, and subsequently determined to be beyond economic repair. The Bridge carried a very popular Public Right of Way over the River Kelvin, and the need to replace the bridge was identified as a priority. Replacement bridge was designed for multi-use by pedestrians, cyclists and equestrians.
