The Scottish Recreation Survey (ScRS) is a continuous monitoring study, launched in 2003, which measures participation by Scottish adults in outdoor recreation. The survey also provides information on the types of environments which recreation users visit, identifies social and economic links with use of the outdoors and measures awarenes and understanding of the Scottish Outdoor Access Code. As well as informing the development and implementation of SNH’s ‘Enjoying the Outdoors’ policy, ScRS data are used to monitor progress on the National Indicator ‘To increase people’s use of Scotland’s outdoors’.
