This Sharing Good Practice Event will showcase the developments that have taken place within the Victorian Quarter area of Dumfries. This event is aimed at anyone wishing to gain a better understanding of the strategic planning, community involvement, partnerships, technical design, funding and practical implementation considerations of a typical street design project. It will be led by two of the project partners, namely: Sustrans Scotland and the ‘DG1 Neighbours’ community group.
The cost includes tea and coffee on arrival and a buffet lunch.
Understandably, we are keen to encourage people to travel as sustainably as possible. The start time has been delayed, to allow more manageable travel by public transport, and the venue is located a short 7min walk from the station. In addition, if you would like to lift share then please let us know and we can try to arrange this between attendees. When making your booking, please indicate if you would like a lift or have access to a car and would be willing to offer a lift to other attendees.
Who should attend?
Those working to make our neighbourhoods safer and more accessible for active travel including outdoor access/planning professionals, public-private partnerships, NGO’s, community councils, organisations in charge of tourism and recreational development, those involved in active travel infrastructure and community path groups.
What do I need?
We will be walking through the Street Design project area in Dumfries to view works that have been undertaken. Attendees should ensure that they wear comfortable footwear and appropriate outdoor clothing for the time of year.
